Statement entropix

I regard the city "Tokyo" that changes at high speed as a living thing dynamically renewed. "entropix" is coinage of "entropy", "picture" and "pixel".
This is a series of my photography of the surface of the artificial material and a subtle phenomenon by using macro lens in the daytime of a sunny day in Tokyo.
Various artificial materials that form a city cannot escape from the increase of entropy just like the living thing and it is always changing at a molecular level.
Sometimes the dirty rust of the walls looks like human's cell to me, when they are vivid and animatedly in sunlight.
I walk in Tokyo, cutting out the fragments of the metabolizing city, and I make the image that can be described as "the organic abstract photography".
These photographs are abstract images of closed-up fragments of a city.
In addition, they are the images that accept the shift of view of an audience to the another dimension from what is on the photograph.
If you compare it to music, it is like the electronica music that mixes an electronic sound and sound of a nature; neither rock'n'roll music with lyrics nor techno music that the rhythm repeats.
Photography collection "entropix" was published from artbeat publishers in September 2008.

「entropix」は、東京の街を新陳代謝する有機体のように捉え、人工物の表面やそこで起きる微細な現象を撮影したシリーズ。タイトルの「entropix」とは、”Entropy”と”Picture”、”Pixel”の造語。
より生々しく、彩度の高い画像を得るために、晴天の日中にマクロレンズで撮影している。
建物を解体し、更地を区画整備し、また新たに建設し、リフォームという延命措置を施しながら変化し続ける「東京」という街は、生き続けるために新陳代謝を繰り返す生物のようであり、都市と自然が渾然一体となった有機体のようである。
都市を形成する人工物やマテリアルも生物と同じようにエントロピーの増大からは逃れられず、分子レベルでは常に変化しているが、そのようにして新陳代謝する都市の断片を切り取り、有機的なアブストラクト写真と呼べるようなイメージを製作している。
これらの写真は、その抽象性やプリントの質感や色などの状態から、見る者の思考が撮影された具体物とは別の次元へとスライドしていくことを積極的に促すイメージである。それは音楽に例えると、歌詞のあるロックンロールや規則正しいリズムで構成されたテクノではなく、電子音と自然音をミックスしたエレクトロニカのようなものである。
写真集『entropix』は2008年にartbeat publishersより出版された。
このシリーズは現在も継続している。
